DENVER (Feb. 5, 2019) – Four Colorado hotels have been awarded AAA's annual Five Diamond Rating, with three new hotels coming in at the Four Diamond level. That, according to AAA's 2019 Diamond Ratings, one of the longest-running and most-trusted distinctions in travel.

The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs has kept its Five Diamond Rating for the 43rd consecutive year. First awarded when AAA introduced its Diamond Rating system in 1976, The Broadmoor is the only hotel in the world to have maintained its rating through the present day. The Little Nell in Aspen has received a Five Diamond Rating for 28 consecutive years. In Denver, The Ritz Carlton, Denver has been a Five Diamond property for nine consecutive years, while The Four Seasons Hotel, Denver has held the distinction for five straight years.

Five Diamond candidates undergo multiple unannounced evaluations by a AAA inspector and a final decision by a panel of experts. Inspectors meticulously evaluate guest services and physical attributes, closely examining the level of competence, refinement, and hospitality - from reservations to checkout.

Only 121 hotels, nationwide, earned the Five Diamond distinction - representing less than one half of one percent of the more than 27,000 AAA inspected hotels across North America.

Colorado is also home to 39 Four Diamond properties. All told, Four Diamond hotels, which represent just 6.3 percent of AAA inspected hotels, must be refined and stylish with upscale physical attributes, extensive amenities, and a high degree of hospitality, service, and attention to detail. New to the Four Diamond list this year is the Garden of the Gods Resort and Club, in Colorado Springs; The Oxford Hotel, in Denver, Vail's Hotel Talisa; and The Westin Westminster.

"There are a lot of reasons to love living in Colorado," said AAA Colorado spokesman Skyler McKinley. "And, with this year's Diamond Awards, there are at least 43 reasons to plan a fantastic staycation at one of these dazzling properties."
