Find Your Way: A changed and changing world

Ken Bolser

Like so many of you, I’ve been eagerly awaiting a so-called “return-to-normal.” I realize, however, we’ll never quite go back to the way things were, but it’s not all bad news.

The pandemic has given AAA an important opportunity to evaluate how our spirit of community service can continue to serve you in a world forever-changed. Here are some new benefits we’ve introduced, some historic benefits that have gained new importance, and some in-person opportunities we’re thrilled to be able to see you at very soon.

Protecting Against Catalytic Converter Theft

Catalytic converter theft has skyrocketed in Colorado because thieves can fetch thousands of dollars on the black market for these systems-critical, emissions-control devices. Because of this, AAA Colorado, in partnership with the Colorado Auto Theft Prevention Authority, has rolled out America’s first catalytic converter theft-prevention program.

The next time your car needs an oil change, a repair, or any other maintenance, visit AAA.com/Catalytic to schedule service at the nearest participating AAA Approved Automotive Repair facility. Then, in addition to your scheduled service, a qualified technician will apply a free, chemically etched identification number to your catalytic converter. That ID number will be entered into a law enforcement anti-theft database to disrupt the black market, and your vehicle will be equipped with window stickers to stop would-be thieves in their tracks.

The Travel (Agent) Renaissance

As we expected, demand for domestic and international travel has come roaring back to life. That’s exciting news, but it’s created a new set of challenges. Travel products, such as tours, cruises, and excursions, are getting booked nearly the second they’re announced; rental cars are hard to come by; and destinations have different COVID-19 vaccination, quarantine, and testing requirements. It can be a lot to keep track of—unless you work with a travel professional.

Americans are returning to travel agents for the peace of mind that their long-awaited vacations will go as planned. As the nation’s largest leisure travel agency, AAA has spent the past year investing in our travel teams so that we would be ready for you when you were ready to travel again. That means you’ll have a powerful advocate in your corner before and during your trip, and inside-access to travel opportunities you just can’t find on your own these days. Getting Back Together

I’ve missed the opportunity to spend time with you in person. That’s why I’m so excited to announce that AAA will be the presenting sponsor of this year’s Denver Auto Show, Sept. 15-19, 2021, in a brand new outdoor space at Elitch Gardens. And, that same weekend, we’re also joining our friends at Denver7 as the sponsor of their Electronics Recycling Drive, Sept. 18, 2021, at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. This event will give Coloradans an opportunity to recycle electronics—such as televisions, computers, cell phones, and more—safely, securely, and responsibly.

While things might never quite go back to the way they were before 2020, I’m confident we’ll enjoy the ride together. Thanks for being a member.
