Dennis Smith

What question do you hear most often when fans first meet you?
Who was the best receiver or running back you ever played against?

How do you respond?
Jerry Rice and Walter Payton.

How do you describe the Super Bowl experience to those who’ve never been?
My Super Bowl experiences were all awesome! Everything is magnified because it’s only one game! Winner take all! And the whole world is watching! That’s what we trained for every year we played. That was our driving force. To play and ultimately win a Super Bowl Championship!

If there’s one rule you would change in football, what would it be, and why?
Roughing the quarterback. Almost impossible to comply to.

When you get together with other players, what do you talk about?
We enjoy catching up on each other’s families and reminiscing on the good, bad and the ugly of our football years together.

Tell me about Pat Bowlen, the man. What does he mean to you?
Pat was a great owner who knew how to relate to athletes because he was an athlete too! He did everything he could to make sure all we had to think about was winning! He meant the world to me! In his office at the stadium he only has seven players jerseys hanging on the wall and one is mine! So I guess the feeling was mutual!
