Doug’s Discount Deals: Save at the pump

Doug Hutton

What if you could save money on a premium-quality product?  Sounds like a “no-brainer,” right? It might also sound too good to be true.

Well, I’m happy to tell you that it is true. AAA has partnered with Shell, a major provider of premium gasoline. Right now, you can go to AAA.com/Shell to sign up and save 5 cents per gallon on gasoline and diesel. Additionally, you can save 25 cents per gallon on your first fill up, but you have to sign up by January 31, 2019.

And there’s even more good news:  Shell’s Nitrogen-Enriched Gasolines clean and protect your engine from the accumulation of performance-robbing deposits. At one point in my career, I was an ASE Certified Mechanic, so I am very aware of the importance of good gasoline. If you want to enhance performance and increase the life of your vehicle, you should definitely use TOP TIER fuel. By the way, don’t confuse TOP TIER with the grades of gasoline—see All Things Automotive by Ken for more on that topic.

Here’s another way to save money on a premium-quality product. AAA members get a 10 percent discount off labor (up to $50) at all participating AAA-Approved Auto Repair facilities. With winter already here, it’s a good idea to have your vehicle prepared for the cold and snow. All participating repair shops have been thoroughly inspected and certified by our AAA Colorado automotive team.
